Blog itu (ternyata) Bukan "Satu Tren Saja"
Menurut yang aku temukan tadi pagi di usatoday.com lengkapnya disini, blog ternyata sudah ada sejak tahun 1776. Disitu dikatakan bahwa "Thomas Paine was basically a blogger — in 1776".
Aaarrrggghhhhh!!!

Kutipan-kutipan lain yang perlu dikutip disini pentingnya nge-blog:
"George Orwell was a blogger. So was Brian Lamb, the guy who started C-Span.
Blogs are really an Internet phenomenon of just the past couple of years. But the essence — the je ne sais quoi— of blogs is that an emerging technology makes it possible for individuals outside the mainstream media to reach an audience. Blogs can be subversive, giving rise to ideas or arguments that would otherwise stay buried."

"Jeez. Take a pill, all you blogomaniacs. Blogs are fun. Blogs add a fascinating new element to public discourse. But blogs are another turn of history's wheel, not a radical departure.
"There has been a long drift away from mass media to more specialized media," says Phil Meyer, a University of North Carolina journalism professor and author of The Vanishing Newspaper: Saving Journalism in the Information Age. "The bloggers are the latest manifestation — more messages to smaller numbers of people."
Certainly, blogs are a phenomenon. Technorati, a blog search engine, tracks 6,406,667 blogs. Two years ago, it tracked 100,000. About 27% of adults now read blogs, up from 2% in 2003."

"Today, software tools make it cheap and simple to post personal journals on the Web, so more people do. "I wouldn't underestimate how much of this is driven by the tools," says Jonathan Weber, the former editor of the defunct Industry Standard, now starting a blog-infused Web site about the Rocky Mountain region."Jonathan Weber aja bilang "I wouldn't underestimate" sedang Phil Meyer, a University of North Carolina journalism professor bilang kalau blog itu "specialized media".
